| abstract | Nashvillian, by way of Seattle, the self-labeled Americana-Gothic duo, Willow & Wood, has crafted a collection of moody songs that call to mind dreamy-pop, country-noir sounds akin to Cowboy Junkies, Neko Case, and Jessie Sykes. But through a David-Lynch-esque, rainy landscape filter of post-modern America. Their songs take on redemption and longing, destiny and death, with a crystalline alto and an undertow of darkness that tugs the songs from below. Willow & Wood hover somewhere around folk, but with gothic tinges and bell-like guitars chiming throughout.
